Since our inception in 1991, our vision at Expertek has been to offer wholesale distributors the best information technology products available and to provide the professional services necessary to assure that our clients could leverage those products into a major competitive advantage. 

In the 1990’s we forged a relationship with Infor Global Solutions, formerly NxTrend Technologies, to offer the best distribution business software available. Widely regarded for years as the leading provider of supply chain software, this relationship allowed us to offer this premier product to small and mid-market distributors at a price that was previously out of reach.

Throughout our existence, we have developed innovative add-on software products that were intended to fill the voids that ERP systems were not filling. These include CommerceLink for electronic commerce, MobileWorks for remote order entry via a PDA and, most recently, RoadWizard for delivery scheduling, dispatching, and route optimization.

The 21st century has brought a host of new challenges to distributors. Margins have been compressed almost universally. Replenishment now often comes from overseas manufacturers with lengthy and uncertain lead times. Supply sources in the Far East are often unstable due to geopolitical and logistical problems. 

In the late 1990’s the word “disintermediation” entered our vocabulary. The Web, powerful retailers, and catalogue companies have given customers access to a multitude of new procurement channels that simply did not exist ten years ago. Supply companies are scrambling to redefine their value proposition to their customers. In many cases, they have come to realize they are now in the information business in addition to supplying product. Virtual inventory is now a reality for many, and customers today expect a level of service that was unheard of a decade ago.

The Expertek mission is to provide the IT tools that allow our clients to navigate through these changing times. Ever increasing levels of automation are both essential and inevitable. Having a state-of-the-art business system provides a starting foundation, but the successful 21st century distributor will be connected electronically to suppliers and customers 24x7. He will have automated his warehousing, his shipping, and his transport processes. In summary, he will survive and thrive by having as few human touch points in the process as necessary. Equally crucial will be providing his customer with a level of service and service options that his competitors cannot match.
