Warehouse Logistics
Infor Distribution Essentials Warehouse Logistics is dedicated
to improving warehouse productivity and accuracy. The
system is designed to address warehouse workflow including
product movements, receiving, shipping, picking and
counting. These warehouse tasks are managed in a real-time
environment supported through Radio Frequency (RF) Data
Collection devices that are carried by workers in the
warehouse. This approach to warehouse management is an
integrated solution that works with the various files and
functions of the system while maintaining
warehouse-specific tasks and data.
Warehouse Logistics frees warehouse operations to manage resources
without concerns about system impact. Each warehouse can
function with its own parameters, data, and rules. While a
warehouse maintains warehouse-level data, the NxTrend
enterprise-level system provides a complete picture of
total operations including the ability to see product
levels by warehouse location and status of orders
throughout the system. Within the warehouse, the "locator"
functions as the heart of the system, tracking all
products to the location level. The locator works with
other parts of the system to not only track item location,
but to determine where an item should be stored and from
where it should be picked.
The system offers:
- Inventory location management (paper-based or
wireless)
- Bar code label generation
- Handheld and forklift-mounted wireless terminals
- Wireless cycle and physical count system via Radio
Frequency (RF) technology
- Automatic drop ships from branch locations to fill
customer needs responsively and cost-effectively
- Kitting and light manufacturing with the ability to
account for, and track, internal and external labor
components
- Compliant with multiple carriers, on-line shipping
manifest and package tracking systems, as well as
signature and document management systems
- Third-party tracking numbers and freight charges
stored with order detail for quick reference and in-depth
analysis
Warehouse Logistics is a Progress-based
client server product with the following components:
-
Server: The server processes the functions
for receiving, picking, packing, shipping, cycle
counting, physical counting, stock adjustments, and
more. It can reside on the same physical server as
SX.enterprise or on it's own server.
-
Database: The database contains all
information regarding the warehouse operations. The
information in it will drive the system to calculate how
warehouse functions are performed, including receiving,
picking, put-away, packing, shipping, and counting.
-
Handheld RF unit functions:
We recommend Teklogix RF units for use with SX.enterprise. These
rugged units have a history of reliability and are able
to withstand the rigors of the warehouse environment.
These units are basically wireless terminals with a
16x26 character screen. The software for these
units resides and runs on the server.
-
Warehouse Operations functions (client):
The client is used to
manage day-to-day operations, as well as setup and
reporting. Included in this component is a
function called the Order Manager. This software
is used to "drop" orders to the warehouse floor for
picking. The orders can be dropped in a variety of
ways to map to your operations.
